The ancient Mesoamericans played a game, called Pitz in classical Maya, using the hips to propel a heavy rubber ball back and forth between competing teams. Vertical rings and human sacrifice were introduced later, but some of the essential aspects remained in the variations that spawned from the original ball game.
The video shown below is a single-person representation on an open, outdoor court of the game I envision for multiple players and a cubical enclosure. The potential is there for a game with skillful control and movement and drawing from disparate athletic disciplines.
