(iR)reverence manual

Some inspiration for getting out there:

The fundamental premise that the world around us and the bodies we occupy come equipped with infinite resistance is central to the wider range of motion that a “free-range” fitness perspective affords. To begin, check out some prison yard mentality projected onto the average children’s playground:

I also appreciate the efforts by some more progressive cities to promote physical activity in the parks, but the visual disturbance of these apparatus as well as the narrowly focused movements that these stations are designed for causes me to think there must be something better, something less conspicuous, something more expressive, even joyous and natural, in both its intention and context. But, improvements nonetheless.

everything but the dirt! smoothie bar

A fundamental aspect of healthy living is a healthy diet. Smoothies have proven nutritionally invaluable and lately have leaned more heavily on the vegetal varietals in favor of the more common fruit flavors. Mine include a little bit of both. My most recent concoction, I call the Purple PopEye:

handful of kale
handful of spinach
3/4 cup frozen blueberries
3/4 cup frozen blackberries
1/2 cup frozen peas
1 carrot
5-7 cherry tomatoes
1 banana
1 cup greek yogurt
1/4 cup lemon juice
water added to desired smoothness

I enjoy the residual burps of kale that follow you long after consumption.
